CUSTOM HELICAL GEARS BUILT TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS
Riverside manufactures helical gears to customer-defined dimensions, tooth geometry, material, heat treatment and quality requirements. Projects can include custom gears, pinions, gear shafts and related components for new equipment or existing industrial systems.
HELICAL GEAR HOBBING AND GRINDING
Riverside provides helical gear hobbing and gear grinding as part of its custom helical gear manufacturing capabilities. Helical gear teeth can be cut to the required diametral pitch or module, pressure angle, helix angle and hand of helix for a range of industrial sizes and configurations.
For applications requiring tighter tooth accuracy or final finishing, Riverside can grind helical gear teeth to help achieve the specified profile, lead, geometry and surface finish. This allows customers to move from gear cutting through final tooth finishing with fewer outside handoffs.
REPLACEMENT AND REVERSE-ENGINEERED HELICAL GEARS
Riverside manufactures replacement helical gears for worn, damaged, failed and obsolete industrial equipment.Projects can begin with drawings, CAD files or existing gear specifications. When original documentation is unavailable, Riverside can evaluate an existing component to determine the tooth geometry, dimensions and other critical features needed to manufacture a replacement.
This makes reverse-engineered helical gears a practical option for legacy machinery, discontinued OEM parts and industrial equipment where standard replacements are no longer available.
LARGE, LONG-SHAFT AND INDUSTRIAL HELICAL GEARS
Riverside supports low-volume helical gear manufacturing for one-off components, prototypes, replacement gears and small production quantities.
Our equipment can accommodate a range of industrial helical gear sizes and configurations, including larger components and long-shaft applications. This makes Riverside a fit for OEMs, maintenance teams and industrial customers that need custom helical gears without committing to high-volume production.
MATERIALS, INSPECTION AND QUALITY
Riverside works with commonly specified industrial gear steels, including 4140, 4150, 4340, 8620 and 4320, depending on the load, wear, heat-treatment and application requirements.
Inspection is incorporated throughout the helical gear manufacturing process using gear-specific and dimensional inspection equipment. Finished components can be checked against customer drawings, dimensional requirements and applicable gear quality specifications before shipment.
