Industrial Gear Mechanism

Our History

Back in 1963, Morley Walter “Mac” Forest bought a single hobbing machine and leased a space no larger than a one-car garage. His reputation as a hard worker who delivered product on time paid off, and this marked the launch of Riverside Spline & Gear, Inc. The company has continued to grow since then, and now under the leadership of Mac’s son Aaron Forest, Riverside Spline & Gear is a shining example of success in the manufacturing industry.

Our commitment to quality and growth is evident in our investment into new equipment and facility size. In the last 10 years, Riverside has invested over $7 million on new machines, including 5 Hofler Gear Grinders, 10 CNC turning centers, 4 CNC hobbers, 3 wire EDM machines and many other supportive equipment. Additionally, we have added a new 10,000 square foot gear grinding center including a metrology lab for final inspection of product.

After more than 50 years in business, Riverside Spline & Gear is most proud of our outstanding reputation. Customers trust Riverside and spread the word. They know they will receive quality, service, and on time delivery, every time. And, in the manufacturing world, that’s the best return on your investment.

Our company continues to service many industries, including mining, forestry, machine tool, oil and gas, electrical, paper, steel and more.

Riverside Spline & Gear is now part of Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA), continuing to serve customers with the same speed, quality, and responsiveness, with added operational support behind the scenes.
