GEAR GRINDING

Riverside Spline & Gear provides gear grinding services for custom spur and helical gears requiring accurate final tooth geometry, profile, lead and surface finish.

Gear grinding can be performed as part of a complete gear manufacturing project or as a finishing service for qualifying customer-supplied gears.

GEAR GRINDING CAPABILITIES

Our cylindrical grinding services support round components that require controlled diameters, geometry and surface finish. Riverside also provides surface grinding for flat surfaces used throughout precision gear and component manufacturing.

Grinding can be incorporated into a complete manufacturing process or performed on customer-supplied parts depending on the project requirements.

Riverside's gear grinding capabilities include:

SPUR GEAR
GRINDING

POST-HEAT-TREATMENT TOOTH FINISHING

HELICAL GEAR GRINDING

LARGE-DIAMETER GEAR
GRINDING

ONBOARD GEAR CHECKING

CUSTOM AND LOW-VOLUME GEAR GRINDING

HÖFLER GEAR GRINDING EQUIPMENT

Riverside's Gear Grinding Center includes multiple Höfler gear grinders with onboard checking capabilities for custom and industrial gearing.

The equipment supports a range of gear sizes and configurations, including large-diameter components requiring controlled tooth geometry and final finishing.

GEAR GRINDING AND INSPECTION

Onboard checking allows gear geometry to be evaluated during the grinding process. Riverside also maintains dedicated gear inspection equipment for verifying finished components before shipment.

CUSTOM AND LOW-VOLUME GEAR GRINDING

Riverside supports custom gear grinding for one-off components, replacement gears and low-volume production. Customers can submit gear drawings, specifications or component information for review.

External Gear Grinding Capabilities

Riverside’s external gear grinding equipment supports gears from approximately 0.5 to 59 inches in diameter, helix angles up to ±45° and 90°, modules from 1 to 25 mm with extended capacity, and table loads up to 13,227 lbs.
