GEAR HOBBING SERVICES
Riverside Spline & Gear provides gear hobbing services for custom spur, helical and industrial gears, including long-shaft and large-diameter applications. Our CNC gear hobbing equipment supports custom, replacement and low-volume gear manufacturing using both metric and standard tooling.
The Riverside Hobbing Center operates two shifts and combines CNC and conventional hobbing equipment with a large inventory of hobs to help move custom gear projects into production quickly.

Riverside's CNC gear hobbing capabilities support a wide range of gear sizes, shaft configurations and industrial applications. Our equipment includes horizontal CNC hobbers for long shafts as well as large-capacity machines for oversized gearing.

Riverside operates a combination of Bourn & Koch, Hurth Modul, Pfauter and Modul CNC hobbing equipment for custom gear cutting.
The Hobbing Center operates on two shifts, 18 hours a day, has 9 highly skilled machinists, and has a large supply of both metric and starndard hobs including a full complement of pre-grind depth hobs assuring we can get your project up and running quickly.

Riverside's Hurth Modul ZFWZ16 can accommodate gearing up to 63 inches in diameter and approximately 1.4 DP, while the horizontal Bourn & Koch machines support long-shaft gear cutting applications.
SPUR AND HELICAL GEAR HOBBING
Gear hobbing is used to generate gear teeth by progressively cutting the tooth profile with a rotating hob. Riverside uses the process for both spur and helical gearing across custom and industrial applications.
Helical gear hobbing requires controlled synchronization between the gear blank and cutting tool to produce the specified helix angle and tooth geometry.
GEAR CUTTING FOR CUSTOM AND LOW-VOLUME PRODUCTION
Riverside supports gear cutting services for one-off components, replacement gears, prototypes and low-volume production. Our large inventory of metric and standard hobs helps reduce tooling delays for many common gear requirements.
Customers can submit a drawing, CAD file, gear specifications or existing component information for review.
FROM HOBBING TO FINISHED GEAR
Gear hobbing can be one stage of a complete custom gear manufacturing project. Riverside can support related machining, heat treatment coordination, gear grinding and inspection based on the requirements of the finished component.
