EMERGENCY GEAR REPLACEMENT
Riverside Spline & Gear provides emergency gear replacement for industrial equipment when a failed or damaged gear causes unexpected downtime. Our team can support expedited manufacturing using stocked materials, in-house machining, gear cutting, grinding and inspection capabilities.
Depending on the project, Riverside can work from customer drawings, specifications or information from an existing component to manufacture a replacement gear as quickly as practical.
INDUSTRIAL GEAR REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
Our team supports industrial gear repair and replacement for worn, damaged, failed and obsolete gearing. Depending on the condition of the component, an existing gear may be evaluated to determine whether critical geometry can be restored within acceptable tolerances or whether manufacturing a replacement is the better option.
For replacement projects, Riverside can work from drawings, CAD files, existing components or available part information. Worn or failed gears can also be evaluated for reverse engineering when original documentation is incomplete or no longer available.
STOCKED MATERIALS FOR FASTER RESPONSE
Riverside maintains an inventory of commonly used gear steels to help reduce material lead times for urgent projects. Stocked materials can help move qualified emergency work into machining and gear cutting faster than projects that require material to be sourced first.
REVERSE ENGINEERED AND OBSOLETE GEARS
When original drawings or OEM replacement parts are unavailable, Riverside can use an existing component to capture the geometry and dimensions needed for a replacement. Tooth geometry, pitch or module, pressure angle, bores, keyways, splines and other critical features can be reviewed to reproduce a component that fits the existing system.
This capability is especially useful for legacy equipment, discontinued gearing and industrial machinery where replacement parts are no longer readily available.
WHAT TO SEND FOR AN EMERGENCY GEAR REQUEST
To help Riverside review the project quickly, send as much information as you have available, such as:
-
PART DRAWING OR CAD FILE
-
EXISTING GEAR OR COMPONENT INFORMATION
-
GEAR TYPE AND NUMBER OF TEETH
-
MATERIAL
-
PITCH OR MODULE
-
PRESSURE ANGLE
-
HELIX ANGLE, IF APPLICABLE
-
QUANTITY
-
HEAT-TREATMENT REQUIREMENTS
-
REQUIRED DELIVERY DATE
You do not need to have every specification before contacting Riverside. The team can review the available information and identify what else may be needed.
